Maria Kallastu’s silky RnB vocals are flavored with dreamy sounds and ear-catching harmonies, accompanied by a heavily stepping groove. She will perform at the Tallinn Music Week on Saturday, April 6, at the future pop music night Soda Pop, taking place in the F-hoone of the Telliskivi Creative City.
Viru Keskus celebrates its 20th anniversary this spring. What is your first memory of this landmark in the heart of the city?
Since I’m from Pärnu, on every school trip to Tallinn, all the students demanded a visit to the shopping center, and of course, Viru Keskus was one of them. It was like a symbol of the big capital city.
Your most embarrassing fashion choice
There have been many phases and experiments, but they were more funny than embarrassing. However, I can definitely say that you will never see me wearing skinny jeans and low-cut socks.
Where is future fashion heading? I would like to see a lot of interesting textures, layers, and mixes of different aesthetics. I don’t like to overthink fashion. The most important thing is that clothes give the wearer confidence and add sparkle.
Your style icon in music
Charli XCX – she could put on a potato sack and still look stylish. Everything seems to work on her.
What do you expect from TMW?
I expect unforgettable memories and acquaintances from TMW. I am grateful to be able to meet with musicians, inspire and motivate each other. I want there to be a lot of laughter and enjoyment!
What does future music sound like?
I want to see risk-taking and not staying in the comfort zone, especially in pop music. All the different and interesting sounds and solutions will move us forward and keep music fresh.
