Telia and Viru Keskus moved the gift card into the phone

Mobile wallet solution mTasku developed by Telia Eesti now offers the exclusive opportunity to use the gift cards of Viru Keskus as well. Nearly 50,000 customers have started to use mTasku in a very short time and the recently added gift card service makes it even easier to manage your everyday affairs.

The gift card of Viru Keskus is the first gift card that can be used via mTasku platform, in addition to the currently available payment and customer cards.

“We have been developing a fast, convenient and environmentally friendly gift card solution in partnership with Telia for quite a long time. This recently launched special solution has been gifted a lot even before the public announcement. This is a nice assurance that the new smart solution is convenient and necessary,” commented Taivi Koitla, Marketing and communication director of Viru Keskus.

The gift card of Viru Keskus used via the mTasku platform provides opportunities to find a gift quickly, pass a gift card in an instant or – if you wish – even pass a gift card received earlier and partly used on to somebody else in a moment.

According to Tarmo Kärsna, Manager of the enterprise business unit of Telia Eesti, provision of the gift card of Viru Keskus once again testifies to the flexibility of mTasku in combining various customer-based solutions. “Through this kind of cooperation we can offer new and innovative solutions to Estonian people to simplify their everyday affairs and provide digital ways of running things, like it should be in a state of e-governance.”

For the time being, printed gift cards of Viru Keskus will be valid along with the gift card nestled in mTasku. The gift cards of Viru Keskus have no validity period and that applies to smart gift cards as well. Existing printed gift cards cannot be transferred to mTasku.

mTasku is a mobile wallet developed in cooperation with Telia, LHV, EveryPay, and providers of fiscal PoS solutions such as Ektaco, ID Süsteemid, Nixor, and Laansoo & Trussmann. Datanor OÜ is the main development partner of the mTasku platform and app. Tallinn University of Technology is a significant cooperation partner for developing secure ways of using electronic documents and passes in mobile phones.

mTasku app can be downloaded for free from Apple Store and Google Play and it’s available for the users of any Estonian mobile operators.
