In the spotlight: Elephants From Neptune
FIBIT 2023’1 turns the spotlight on the work, personalities and style of the artists starring at the TMW.
SOUND LOUD ON, while you listen to this reel!
If you enjoyed what you heard, Elephants From Neptune will perform at the Tallinn Music Week on the Raadio 2 stage Vaba Lava on Saturday, May 13.
Together with Tallinn Music Week we asked and Robert Linna of Elephants From Neptuns answered.
Q: Your most improbable/weird/funny source of inspiration?
A: The Elephants’ song “Blue Lightning” is directly inspired by my old bicycle called “blue lightning”. Ironically it is pretty rusty and slow. I used to live in Merivälja then and I often rode it to go to parties in town. Once I had a flat tire halfway there and as I had no lock I hid the bike in the bushes in front of the Maarjamäe castle. About a week later I remembered that “Oops, that’s where my bike is”. Luckily my dear “blue lightning” was safely there in the bushes. Now it has happily retired on the island of Muhu.
Q: How to go fashionably Green?
A: Take care of your clothes, repair, reuse, combine smartly.
Q: What is it that you never leave home without?
A: The classic answer is keys, phone and wallet. A more poetic answer might be determination, ideas, willpower. Oh yes, and I always have mediators in my pocket.
Q: What did you last learn about yourself?
A: I recently learned that I really do my best to avoid conflicts. I always try to get them solved at once to get them out of the way. Actually I sometimes need to filter everything through myself, talk, listen, discuss and decide. It is certainly uncomfortable, but the result and the feeling are much better later. See, you can teach new tricks to an old dog.
Q: What are you expecting from the Tallinn Music Week?
A: As always there will be an event to introduce the bands, and we would like to greet our old friends with our new material and get new acquaintances. This is a meeting for the people of the music scene to set plans for the future and show that rock’n’roll hasn’t gone anywhere!
