Estonian athletes introduced in Viru Keskus Nike flagship store the revolutionary running shoes

9.02.2024

Estonian national team athletes introduced the latest, improved version of Nike’s revolutionary running shoe, Nike Alphafly, at the Viru Keskus Nike flagship store.

There has been a real revolution in the field of running shoes in recent years, which began in 2017 when Nike introduced its first carbon fiber plate running shoe. Two years later, Eliud Kipchoge became the first person in the world to run a marathon in under two hours wearing Nike Alphafly NEXT% shoes. When he set a new world record in Berlin in 2022, Kipchoge was wearing the Alphafly 2 racing shoes. In October 2023, Kelvin Kiptum (pictured below) set a new world record of 2:00:35 in Chicago, once again wearing Nike Alphafly, this time the latest, third version of the model.

In early January, Nike made its new Alphafly 3 available to regular runners, and now, just a few weeks later, the Alphafly 3 is also available for sale in Estonia.

What makes Nike Alphafly special is the combination of three components: the carbon fiber Flyplate, the ZoomX midsole material, and the Air Zoom air pods. The combination that has brought success in previous shoe models remains the same, but the properties of the components have been slightly modified. For example, the carbon fiber plate has been widened to increase stability. The sole is made in one piece to provide smoother transition from foot strike to toe-off. The outsole has been redesigned to improve grip on the ground. The new Atomknit 3.0 uppers provide optimal comfort, breathability, and support with every step. The heel cushioning also enhances comfort and fit.

During the development process, Nike involved more runners than ever in testing the Alphafly 3. The result is a running shoe that helps athletes achieve their set goals in the marathon distance, regardless of running pace.

In summary, the updates make the Nike Alphafly 3 more comfortable, stable, and suitable even for marathon runners who won’t be attacking the two-hour barrier in the near future.

The new Nike Alphafly 3 has been available in Estonia since the end of January in a prototype color combination. It features a classic white color with a large Nike logo covering practically the entire extent of the running shoe. In addition to the logo, the shoe is accented by orange Nike Air Zoom air pods.

Nike Alphafly 3 running shoes are available at Nike flagship stores and the teamsport.ee online store.
